Core Subjects

Most students are required to take the following:

1. English Language – Reading, writing, comprehension, and analysis.

2. English Literature – Study of novels, plays, and poetry.

3. Mathematics – Arithmetic, algebra, geometry, statistics, and problem-solving.

4. Science – Can be:

   • Combined Science (Double Award) – counts as 2 GCSEs

   • Separate Sciences (Triple Award) – Biology, Chemistry, Physics as 3 separate GCSEs

5. Physical Education (PE) – Sometimes optional, focuses on fitness, health, and sports theory.

Optional Subjects

Students choose additional subjects based on interests and future plans. Examples:

• Humanities: History, Geography, Religious Studies, Sociology

• Languages: French, Spanish, German, Mandarin

• Arts & Design: Art & Design, Music, Drama, Media Studies

• Technology & Vocational: Computer Science, Design & Technology, Business Studies, Hospitality
